Ag Product ID practices will be starting soon ahead of the fall contests. Fall contest dates:
State Fair (Dallas) – September 27th
Heart of Texas (Waco) – October 5th
District contest – November 7th
The registration deadline for the State Fair and HOT contests is AUGUST 12TH.
The Ag Product ID contest is a multiple choice test where 30 items produced in Texas are identified. Products include fruits/vegetables, beef, pork, seafood, sheep, dairy, and feed commodities. The second part of the contest involves answering a question related to things such as product storage, uses, when to harvest, meat cuts, cooking methods, and economic factors and geographic conditions.
